How do I use Self Assessment?

Updated on

Through a Self Assessment, a student can test their knowledge. It is similar to Quizzes, but with a Self Assessment, the student receives immediate feedback after answering each question. Additionally, there is no score associated with the Self Assessment.

Go to Course Admin via the Navbar and click on Self Assessment.

On this page, you will find various functions that you can use to edit Self Assessments.

Adding questions to a Self Assessment

Go to the Self Assessment homepage where you created the Self Assessment. Click on the Self Assessment to which you want to add questions.

Above General, you will see a button Add/Edit Questions. Click on it.

You have the option to add new questions or use previously created questions. In this example, we will create a new question. For instructions on how to use already created questions, see How do I use the Question Library?

Click on New. You will then see all possible question options. Choose the option you want.

The example chosen is for a True or False Question. You will see the following screen.

  1. If you prefer a different question type, you can change it here.
  2. Enter the question in this text box.
  3. Indicate the correct answer here.

If you want to provide feedback for the question, you can do so by clicking on Options. Where Remove Feedback is now, it will change to Add Feedback.

In the text boxes under True, False, and Overall Feedback, you can now enter the feedback. Then click Save when you're done. You can also click the arrow next to Save and choose Save and New or Save and Copy.
