How do I use the Question Library?

Updated on

Each course has its own question library or Question Library: a central storage location for saving, sorting, and archiving questions. This allows you to easily find and reuse them in quizzes and surveys.

You can access the Question Library via Course Tools > Quizzes or Course Admin > Self Assessment.

Then, click on Question Library at the top. In the example below, Quizzes has been selected.

If you are going to use a lot of questions, it's best to create the questions in the Question Library. This way, you have all the questions in one place.

When the Question Library is set up, you have the following options:

  1. On the left side, you will see the folder structure in your Question Library. The folders you see are the sections you have created.
  2. Click on New to create a new section/question. Click on Import to add questions you previously created in an activity or that are stored on your computer.
  3. Using the navigation bar, you can perform actions with selected questions/sections:
    • Move: Move a question/questions to a section or move a section/sections under another section.
    • Delete: Delete the selected questions/sections.
    • Order: Change the order of questions/sections in your Question Library.
    • Edit Values: Easily change the points, difficulty level, and whether the question is mandatory or not.
    • The Publish to LOR function allows you to publish questions you've created in the Question Library to the Learning Object Repository (LOR). The LOR is a central storage place for learning materials such as questions, documents, videos, and other educational content that can be shared or reused in Brightspace.
  4. Click the arrow next to a question to expand the quick menu for that question:
    • Edit: Click to modify the question.
    • Preview: Click to see the question as a student would see it, how it appears during assessment, and if there is feedback and/or a hint attached.
    • Attempts: Click to see how many times the question has been attempted and the results.
