For creating an Assignment where a video must be uploaded by the student, there are several options. We recommend using a Text submission for this purpose. Below, we will explain the options
Video upload Text Submission
How to create an Assignment in the form of a text submission can be found here: Text submission.
To submit a video, students use the Insert Stuff option. Then, they select Kaltura Media Submission For Students. Students can either choose an existing video from Kaltura or upload a new video from their computer via + Add New. In both cases, the metadata (required fields) of the video must be filled out in order to submit the video via Kaltura.
Video upload File Submission
How to create an Assignment in the form of a file submission can be found here: File submission.
When this option is chosen, students have the ability to upload their video directly into Brightspace. The file must not exceed 2GB. Students can still submit a video via Insert Stuff using Kaltura, as described above for a text submission.
The downside of this is that an embedded video added via Insert Stuff is not recognized as a file. Students will need to submit an (empty) file first before they can submit their embedded video properly.
When creating a file submission, you can also specify that only Images and Videos may be submitted. This is done under Allowable File Extensions.
