For creating an Assignment where a student needs to upload a video, there are several options. We recommend using a Text Submission for this, as it allows students to use Kaltura. Below is an explanation of why this is preferred and how you can create the Assignment.

To submit a video, students use the Insert Stuff option. Then, they select Kaltura Media Submission For Students. Students can either choose an existing video from Kaltura or upload a new video from their computer via + Add New. In both cases, the metadata (required fields) of the video must be filled out in order to submit the video via Kaltura.
Choose to create an Assignment where a video needs to be uploaded for Text Submission, rather than selecting File Submission. If the student then chooses the "Kaltura Media Submission for Students" option to submit their video, Brightspace will not recognize this as a file.
