You can add a video in Brightspace in various ways.
Just a video
To add a video to your content without including an introduction text, follow these steps:
Go to Content and click on the place where you want to add the video. Then, click Add Existing.
On the page you land on, you have different options to add a video:
- Embed Kaltura Media: With this option, you can add a video from Kaltura to Brightspace. You can insert an existing video from Kaltura via 'Embed' or upload a new video from your computer via '+ Add New'. There is no maximum file size. Before you can place a new or existing video, the metadata (required fields, see image below. ) must be filled out; otherwise, you will not be able to upload the video in either case.
- Drag and drop or browse: Here, you can either drag and drop a video or click on Browse to search for the correct video. This video will be uploaded directly to Brightspace, not Kaltura. There is a 2GB data size limit for this option.
The video will be placed directly into the content. The file name will be used by default, but if you want to change it, you can click on the three dots and select Edit. From there, you can change the title.
Video with introduction text
If you want to add an introductory text to your video, instead of selecting Add Existing, choose Create New. Then, select Page.
Enter the title and the text you want to add. Then, click Insert Stuff.

Choose either My Computer or Embed Kaltura Media, depending on where you want to upload your video from. The video will then be embedded. For the My Computer option, there is again a 2GB maximum size limit.
Click Save and Close when you're finished.
When you want to add videos to, for example, the description of an Assignment or in a Discussion, you also choose the Insert Stuff option, just as explained for in Video with introduction text .
