What are Learning Outcomes?
Brightspace offers a tool called Learning Outcomes, which makes it possible to define learning outcomes and/or associated learning objectives and link them to various course components within Brightspace. Based on this, the progress of students on those learning outcomes can be monitored within the course. (At the moment, it is not yet possible to track Learning Outcomes across courses.) In addition, achieving a Learning Outcome under certain conditions can serve as a release condition for unlocking specific content (such as an assignment).
Learning Outcomes can be created across courses by Functional Support. To do so, you can submit a request to [email protected]. In your course, you can then use (import) these outcomes or create course-specific outcomes yourself.
Adding Learning Outcomes
- Go to the Learning Outcomes tool through the Course Admin menu.
- Go to Import Outcomes and choose the option Import from Outcome Set.
If Learning Outcomes have been created at the program level, you can select the Learning Outcomes that are relevant for the current Brightspace course here. - Using Add Outcome, you can add course-specific Learning Outcomes for this particular Brightspace course, for example for the learning objectives. If desired, it is also possible to add sub-objectives. To create sub-objectives, click the three dots next to the learning objective you created and choose Add lower-level outcome.
Achievement Scale kiezen
Through Settings, select the Achievement Scale you want to use to indicate the student’s progress (at the moment, only one Achievement Scale is available).
