Insert Stuff – Kaltura Media
Use this method when you want a video to be directly visible within a content item, assignment, announcement, or discussion forum. It’s the most straightforward way to embed a video right where students need it. This is useful for explanations, demonstrations, or instructional videos that are part of the course material.
Kaltura Video Quiz
Do you want students to actively engage while watching a video? Then a Kaltura Video Quiz is a suitable option. It allows you to add interactive questions to a video, prompting students to respond as they watch. This works well for formative assessment or to help students engage with the content in an interactive way.
Kaltura Media Gallery
If you want to make multiple videos available in one central location, use the Media Gallery. This is linked to a course and displays a collection of videos that you manage. It’s especially useful for reference material, themed videos, or resources students can explore on their own. You can also create playlists in the Media Gallery based on specific topics.
Media Library
The Media Library is your personal space where all the videos and media you’ve uploaded or have access to are stored. The difference between the Media Gallery and the Media Library is that the Gallery is course-specific, while the Library is personal.
Insert Stuff in Assignments or Discussions
If you want to add a video as supporting material in an assignment or discussion, without it being the main content, you can also use the Insert Stuff option here. For example, you can add a short instructional video to an assignment description or use a video as a starting point for a discussion.
My Media is your personal video library within Brightspace. Here you can find all the videos you have uploaded or recorded using Kaltura. From My Media, you can add videos to your course (via Insert Stuff or the Media Gallery), edit them, add subtitles, or turn them into a video quiz. Students also have access to their own My Media, where they can prepare and manage video content—for example, to submit an assignment.
Student Uploads via Kaltura My Media
Would you like students to upload a video themselves, for example for a presentation or assignment? They can do this using their My Media within Brightspace. They upload the video to My Media and then submit it using the Kaltura Media Submission for Students option
